Terms of use
1. These terms
These terms apply to fracturedrealities.co (the "site"), run by Fractured Realities ("we", "us"). By using the site you accept them. Our privacy policy covers personal data.
2. What the archive is, and is not
The site is an independent research archive of reported unidentified aerial phenomena and related claims. Each case file records what witnesses, researchers, officials and documents have said. It is not a finding that any event happened as described.
- An independence grade (L0 to L4) measures how independently a claim is sourced, not whether it is true.
- Studies describe patterns in the reporting. They do not establish what anyone saw.
- Images marked "AI reconstruction" are illustrations, not evidence.
- We are not affiliated with any government, agency or armed force.
The site is provided for information and research only. Do not rely on it as the basis for any decision.
3. Using the site
You may browse, search, link to and share pages. You must not:
- use the site unlawfully or in a way that infringes anyone's rights;
- attempt unauthorised access to the site, its servers or other members' accounts, or interfere with how it runs;
- copy the archive in bulk by automated means, or build a competing database from it, without our written permission. Search-engine indexing is permitted.
4. Membership
Membership is free and open to anyone aged 13 or over. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend or close an account used to break these terms, and may change or withdraw member features. You can close your account by writing to contact@contact.fracturedrealities.co.
5. Sighting reports
A report you send stays yours. You grant us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, study and analyse it and to refer to it in aggregate or anonymised form. We do not publish reports as case files, or publish your name or email. You confirm that a report is your own honest account, contains no one else's private information or false statements about a real person, and breaches no duty of confidence or law.
6. Content and copyright
The writing, case files, studies, data compilations, charts and design of the site belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and database right. You may quote short extracts, and share our study briefs for personal, non-commercial use, with credit and a link to the source page.
Some material belongs to others and is used under its own terms: Wikimedia Commons photographs (credited and linked, under the licence shown), released government records, and video hosted on YouTube. If you own material on the site and believe it is used without permission, write to contact@contact.fracturedrealities.co with the page and the material concerned.
7. If a case file names you
Case files name the people who made or reported claims, drawn from what they have said in public. If you are named and believe something is inaccurate or should not be there, write to contact@contact.fracturedrealities.co with the page address and what you believe is wrong, and we will review it. This does not affect your other legal rights.
8. Availability, links and changes
The site is provided free of charge and "as is". We do not promise it will be available, accurate or free of errors, and we may change or remove any part of it or these terms at any time; the version on the site when you use it applies. Links to and material embedded from other websites are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the site's content, or for loss of business, profit or data.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
