The Alfena Sighting

The object over Alfena was first noticed by schoolchildren in September 1990. It was grey and shaped like an egg or a sphere, and it was low enough that the account puts it near the power lines. Word spread and the source says about thirty people ended up watching it. It moved across the town, slowed and hung over a football field, where it appeared to put down legs as though it meant to land. Boys nearby threw stones in its direction. It went up fast and did not come back.

What is on the record

The archive resolves five claimants here from one video and one reporting channel. They are the photographer, a man given as Manoel, a worker from a local workshop, the schoolchildren who saw it first and the guard at the ground where it hovered. The source's figure of roughly thirty onlookers is that source's claim, not the archive's count. The photographer's name appears in the file in two forms, Manuel Gomes in the telling and Manuel Gomez in the witness list, and the archive has not reconciled them.

Four photographs are said to have been taken and later examined. The account of that analysis describes an object around four and a half metres across, not rigid in outline, shedding appendages, giving off its own light and not matched to anything known. That is a strong set of claims and none of it is in the archive as a document. There is no report, no negative and no analyst's paper in the file. What the archive holds is a description of the photographs and of what someone concluded from them.

The children being first to see it also means the earliest part of the sequence comes from young witnesses, and the account does not name them.

Why it sits where it does

The case grades L3, the archive's independent-testimony tier, because several unconnected people in one town described the same object in daylight over the same short stretch of time. It carries no primary documents and reaches the archive through a single channel, which caps it there. The photographs would be the thing that lifted this case, and they are not held.
