The Central London Sphere

A metallic sphere was filmed in daylight over central London in June 1999, inside one of the busiest controlled air corridors in Europe. A separate garden sighting of a spinning sphere and an unrelated account from a London art shop sit under the same heading. This is the record of what was filmed and reported, not a verdict on what was over the city.

◆ THE SHORT VERSION

  • The Central London Sphere is a reported UAP case in Central London, 13 June 1999, evening.
  • Christopher Martin said he filmed a metallic sphere hovering about 400 feet above a tower block in central London in June 1999 that sped towards South London, came back, stopped dead and blinked out.
  • According to one telling, Martin's 1999 sphere footage was shot in broad daylight inside a busy air corridor over London.
  • Two London witnesses named Neelu and Amrit described a silver, spinning sphere hanging 50 to 100 feet above their garden before it sped towards an army barracks and vanished with no vapour trail.
  • In an unrelated account filed under the same case, a London art shop owner said a group of ordinary-looking people made a show of buying one pencil with a large banknote and that she phoned someone to say there were aliens in her shop.
  • For this case Fractured Realities holds 3 distinct sources and 4 distinct claimants on its resolved list.
  • The archive grades it L3 · MULTI-SOURCE — multiple independent sources attest to it.

Counts are resolved totals of what sources say, computed 2026-10-03; the reported details above are claims in the record, not findings. A record of reports, not a verdict on what happened.

Christopher Martin says he was drawn by a premonition. He filmed a metallic sphere hovering about 400 feet above a tower block. In his account it accelerated away towards South London and came back. Then it stopped dead at a ninety-degree angle, hovered again and blinked out. The footage is the reason this case is in the archive. A sphere in broad daylight over central London sits in airspace under continuous radar coverage and heavy commercial traffic. That context cuts both ways, and the file is better for saying so. An object loitering there should be trivially identifiable, and a great deal of ordinary material passes through the same sky.

What is on the record

Four tellings in three videos across two independent channels, four claimants (three of them named) and no documents. A National Archives file was once cross-referenced onto this case by our data layer. A full-text check showed it never mentions the sighting, so it has been removed rather than displayed as sourcing. The footage itself is not held in the archive and cannot be examined here.

A correction on the date. Earlier versions of this page said July 1999. A public-record check found that the footage's own caption dates Martin's film to 13 June 1999, and the archive now carries that date.

A newer telling adds a sighting from a garden. Two witnesses named Neelu and Amrit describe a silver, spinning, burnished sphere hanging 50 to 100 feet above their heads for a few seconds. It picked up speed towards the army barracks and vanished with no vapour trail. The telling gives no date, and the archive's range for this entry reaches back to 1990. Nothing in the record ties it to Martin's film beyond the shape.

The fourth telling is a different kind of claim entirely and should not be read as corroboration. A London art shop owner described a group of ordinary-looking people browsing at length, making a performance of buying a single pencil with a large banknote, and appearing not to understand change. She is reported to have telephoned someone to say there were aliens in her shop. It is an anecdote about strangers behaving strangely. It shares this file with the footage only because the archive's resolution layer placed them together.

Why it sits where it does

L3 on independent tellings. The location is held at city level rather than a point. The tellings describe at least two unrelated things, which is part of this record's honest shape rather than a flaw to be tidied away. What was filmed over London in June 1999 is not resolved here.
