The Hill Abduction
In 1961 Betty and Barney Hill reported a close encounter and roughly two hours of missing time on a night drive home through New Hampshire's White Mountains. Under hypnosis conducted separately, both described being taken aboard a craft. This is the record of the case that became the template for abduction accounts, not a verdict on what happened on that road.
◆ THE SHORT VERSION
- The Hill Abduction is a reported UAP case in New Hampshire, USA, 19–20 September 1961.
- Betty Hill said the leader aboard the craft showed her a three-dimensional star map with lines she was told were trade routes; she later drew it from memory, and one account matches it to Zeta Reticuli.
- Betty and Barney Hill reported that a disc-shaped craft followed their car through New Hampshire's White Mountains one night in 1961 and descended in front of it; Barney said he saw figures through its windows, and the engine died.
- After a series of beeps and a tingling sensation the Hills found themselves 35 miles further on, unable to account for roughly two hours of the drive; in the fullest telling around eleven short humanoid beings had taken them aboard.
- Under separate hypnosis each of the Hills described being taken aboard and examined, Betty describing a needle inserted at the navel that was explained to her as a pregnancy test.
- NICAP investigator Walter Webb concluded the Hills saw something frightening but doubted the abduction, according to one telling.
