The Fayette County Farm Encounter

On 25 October 1973 people near a farm in Fayette County, Pennsylvania reported a glowing red sphere coming down in a field. A man and two boys who walked towards it describe a large dome sitting on the ground and two tall hairy figures with glowing green eyes beside it. This is the record of what was reported and what the investigators say followed, not a verdict on what was in that field.

Two tall hairy creatures with glowing green eyes stood beside a domed object roughly a hundred feet across, sitting in a field. That is what George Kowalczyk and two eleven-year-old boys describe after walking out towards a glowing red sphere that about fifteen people are said to have watched descend near the farm on 25 October 1973. George fired a shot at one of the creatures. As it raised its hand the object vanished.

The aftermath is what keeps the case in circulation. The investigator Stan Gordon came to the farm with Dave Smith and George Lutz, and a state trooper was present. George is described as falling into a trance and making inhuman sounds like those the creatures had made. His own dog attacked him, and he collapsed while a strong smell of sulphur came over the team.

What is on the record

Three tellings in three videos come from one reporting channel, and there are no documents. Six claimants are listed. The investigators Gordon, Smith and Lutz are no longer counted, which leaves George, his father, the state trooper and the boys, who are listed both as eleven-year-old twins and as two unnamed boys. The state trooper has no name.

Two tellings name the young farmer who fired as Stephen Polaski (Pulaski in the claimant list). One of them also lists George Kowalczyk, so the record does not settle whether this is one man under two names. These versions describe an orange orb, greenish-yellow eyes, a burning-rubber smell and a hum like a turbine. The farmer fired tracers and live rounds. The hits reportedly sounded like striking water, then the light went out and the creatures retreated. Afterwards he growled and attacked his dog, which reverses the first telling. The figure of about fifteen people watching the sphere come down is the source's claim, not the archive's count.

Nothing physical is in the file. No trace analysis, no photographs, no police report. That absence weighs more than usual, because the account offers several things that would leave marks: a hundred-foot object on soft ground, a discharged firearm and a reported smell strong enough to affect a group of adults.

Why it sits where it does

The case grades L3 on six claimants, but the boys are counted twice, the farmer may be too, and a single channel carries all of it. The record holds a vivid account whose tellings agree in outline and nothing that can be tested against it. What George Kowalczyk shot at is not resolved here.
