The Las Vegas Backyard Beings

Two figures eight to ten feet tall were standing in the backyard, the caller told the 911 operator, and they were "100 percent not human" with big shiny eyes. The call came from a family home in north-west Las Vegas at about ten to midnight on 30 April 2023. A few minutes earlier a bright object had come down out of the sky. Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department went to the house, and their bodycam footage shows them seeing the falling light as well.

What is on the record

The police released both the 911 audio and the bodycam footage, and local and national news carried the story. The falling light is commonly put down to a meteor, a fireball reported across the region that night. That is the standard explanation for the light. Officers found no evidence of any beings.

The story did not stay still. In later interviews, according to the archive's telling, the being became a demon. It grew taller and growled like a dog and seemed angry. It is said to have held the teenager paralysed. None of that is in the 911 call.
