The Gendarme's Row of Lights
At about nine on the evening of 9 December 1992 a gendarme and his wife, driving in the Charente-Maritime, saw a vast row of five or six lit rectangles with an intense blue flash at each end. It lasted seconds. The driver braked, and so did the car behind. This is the record of what the couple reported to France's official investigators, not a verdict on what lit up the road.
