The Taverny Triangle
On a clear January evening in 2010 a man walking his dog in Taverny, north of Paris, watched a dark triangle as big as an airliner glide silently the wrong way along the approach to Charles de Gaulle, a dim amber light at each corner. GEIPAN investigated, found the account credible, ruled out an airliner and could not settle on anything else. This is the record of what the witness reported, not a verdict on what crossed the sky.
◆ THE SHORT VERSION
- The Taverny Triangle is a reported UAP case in Taverny, Val-d'Oise, France, 4 January 2010.
- A man walking his dog reported a dark triangle as big as an airliner, with a faint amber disc under its nose and at each rear corner, gliding silently the wrong way along the approach to Charles de Gaulle.
- It passed moments after a fully lit Airbus A330 had flown over him on its way in to land, and he told GEIPAN it resembled no aircraft in service.
- GEIPAN's investigator modelled the path against the real CDG routes and ruled out an airliner; a 2.5-metre drone fitted on paper but was judged very unlikely over a town on a winter night.
- GEIPAN says its inquiry confirmed the testimony, and it files the case as unexplained.
