The Trinity Crash

In 1945, in the weeks after the first nuclear test, two boys said they found a crashed craft on ranch land near San Antonio in New Mexico, with small injured beings inside. The account surfaced decades later and was carried further by the investigator Jacques Vallée. This is the record of what was described, not a verdict on what came down.

In 1945, on Padilla family ranch land near San Antonio in New Mexico, two boys said they came upon a crashed craft after a storm. José Padilla was nine at the time. He and his friend Reme Baca described an oval greyish object and, through binoculars, three small injured beings moving through a gash in its side. José's father and a policeman are said to have visited afterwards, and the military to have cleared the debris over about a week. José later said he kept a piece of it. The site lay close to the Trinity test ground, which is what draws attention to the year.

What is on the record

The archive resolves four claimants across three reporting channels. The core telling is the boys' own, given long after the event. The named claimants are Padilla, Baca and Padilla's father, with further unnamed ranch witnesses noted. The other channels carry the case second-hand through the investigator Jacques Vallée, who wrote about a crash near Trinity and described child-like beings with teardrop eyes and four fingers. One channel notes only that a whistleblower it spoke to had no information on it.

The dating is not clean. The file's best date reads twenty days after the Trinity test. One source instead places the event a month after that test and two days after Nagasaki. These do not sit together, and the archive holds no way to fix the day. There are no documents of any kind in this entry. It rests wholly on testimony recalled across a long gap, with the physical claims left unexamined here.

Why it sits where it does

Trinity grades L3, the tier for multiple independent claimants describing one connected event. It carries no government paperwork and no sensor data, so it does not climb higher, and the long delay in the telling is part of the record. What came down near San Antonio is not resolved here.
