The Wandsworth Triangle Lights

On 13 October 2008 residents around Balham in south London reported white and red lights with bluish trails forming a triangle. Police logged five calls that night describing a red light moving like a boomerang. This is the record of what was reported across the borough, not a verdict on what was over south London.

The sighting is placed at Balham in the London borough of Wandsworth on the night of 13 October 2008. What residents described was not a solid shape but an arrangement: white and red lights trailing blue, holding a triangular formation. One element in the record stands slightly apart from the rest, a red light that several callers described as moving like a boomerang.

What is on the record

One telling on one channel, two named claimants in Brian Sliman and Lee Fosket, and no documents. The grade is testimony.

The detail that gives this file more weight than a single account is the police log. Five calls are recorded as reaching the police that night about the same phenomenon. The archive holds that as part of the telling rather than as its own finding, because the log itself is not in our holdings, but five independent calls to an emergency service is a different class of claim from one person's memory years later.

This was not an isolated night for the borough. The archive holds five separate Wandsworth accounts from the same source, and one of them records a wave of at least six sightings that earned the borough the local nickname UFO City. That cuts both ways. A cluster can mean an active phenomenon or an active community of watchers, and reports alone cannot separate the two.

A Ministry of Defence file was formerly linked to this case. The 2026 document audit found it does not name Wandsworth or Balham, and it has been removed.

Why it sits where it does

L3, resting on two named claimants and a described police log rather than documents. What formed the triangle over Balham is not resolved here.
