The Lake Huron Shootdown

An F-16's infrared camera holds on a small object over Lake Huron. Twenty seconds in, it is struck and bursts apart.

The only clip in the releases with a decisive event in it: AARO describes a kinetic interaction and a fragmentation 'that suggests a high-energy event'. It was the third object shot down over North America in a week in February 2023, after the Chinese surveillance balloon.

The White House said that week that the objects were most likely balloons tied to private companies, recreation or research, and no debris was recovered from the lake. It comes from a set AARO found on a classified network and says lacks a substantiated chain of custody.

Disputed. Serious questions remain about how it was made or what it shows, and neither side has settled them.
