The Santos Montiel Interception

On 3 May 1975 a young Mexican pilot reported being boxed in mid-flight by three objects, one on each wing and a third beneath the fuselage, and losing control of his aircraft while talking to the tower. This is the record of what the pilot reported, not a verdict on what surrounded his aircraft.

Carlos Antonio de los Santos Montiel was a young aviator flying towards Mexico City when, near Tequesquitengo, he reported being intercepted. The arrangement he described is what distinguishes the account from an ordinary pursuit: not one object trailing him, but three holding station around the aircraft, one above each wing and one beneath the fuselage.

What is on the record

Two tellings on a single channel, with two claimant entries that are spelling variants of the same pilot's name, and no documents. The grade is testimony.

He reported losing control of the aircraft and radioing the tower in evident fear. That radio traffic would be the checkable part of this case, and it is not in our holdings. He landed safely and was examined and found in good health.

The tellings differ on one physical point that matters. One says the third object was positioned beneath the fuselage; the other says it struck the underside. The archive records the discrepancy rather than choosing, because the difference between proximity and contact is exactly the sort of detail that hardens in retelling.

The aftermath is the second strand: he is reported to have been harassed afterwards by men in black. That motif appears across our corpus and is among the least testable things in it.

Why it sits where it does

L3 on multiple tellings from one channel, with a single pilot as the witness. What flew in formation with that aircraft over Tequesquitengo is not resolved here.
