Colin Saunders was driving his wife, his mother-in-law and a woman named Victoria home from a meal on the night of 31 March 1999, along the Fosse Way in Warwickshire near the junction with the A5. They saw brilliant red and white lights pulsing about a hundred feet above the road. As the car drew closer the lights resolved into a metallic craft, described as diamond or triangular in plan, which tilted enough to show its surface. The family described that surface as rippling, almost organic, with raised silver lines standing out from it in three dimensions. The road was empty. No other traffic passed while it was there, and when their view was broken for a moment the craft had gone.
What is on the record
The archive resolves four claimants here from one video and one reporting channel. All four were in the same car, so this is a single-vehicle sighting rather than separate parties converging on one object, and the file should be read that way.
The most useful detail in the account is also the most awkward one. The witnesses did not agree on the configuration of the lights. Different people in the car described different arrangements, and the source reports that rather than smoothing it away. Disagreement of that kind is what honest multi-witness testimony usually looks like, though it also means the object's shape is not fixed by the record. The family reported no fear. The encounter is described as feeling friendly rather than threatening, which is unusual enough in the archive to be worth noting.
There are no documents in this entry. There is no photograph, no radar trace and no official response of any kind, and the account carries no report to police or to the Ministry of Defence. What the archive holds is one family's account, retold once.
Why it sits where it does
The case grades L3, the archive's independent-testimony tier, on four people describing one object at close range at the same moment. It has no documentary or sensor support and comes through a single channel, so it goes no higher. What passed over the Fosse Way that night is not resolved here.
