The Black Triangle from the Cloud

One October evening in 2023, a man watching the stars around Colorado Springs saw a pixelated grey cloud release a huge black triangle with a red light at each corner, which he says accelerated to perhaps Mach 1 or 2 without a sound. A minute later his wife told him his voice on the phone sounded robotic. This is the record of what he told the FBI, not a verdict on what came out of the cloud.

◆ THE SHORT VERSION

  • The Black Triangle from the Cloud is a reported UAP case in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, October 2023.
  • A man near Colorado Springs told the FBI he saw a solid black triangle with a red light at each corner emerge from a stationary cloud that looked "pixelated or distorted".
  • He says it went from helicopter speed to possibly Mach 1 or 2 almost instantly, in silence, and banked 90 degrees on its side while veering the other way.
  • About a minute later his wife told him his voice on the phone "sounded robotic, as if there was electronic interference".
  • When he looked back the cloud had gone; the co-worker beside him is not recorded as seeing the object.
  • For this case Fractured Realities holds 2 distinct sources and 2 corroborating primary documents.
  • The archive grades it L1 · SINGLE CHANNEL — it is retold more than once, but everything traces back through one channel.

Counts are resolved totals of what sources say, computed 2026-10-03; the reported details above are claims in the record, not findings. A record of reports, not a verdict on what happened.

The cloud came first. Sometime between 8 and 9:30 PM a man who often watches aircraft around Colorado Springs walked over to a co-worker to admire a clear starry sky. Then movement caught his left eye. He saw a stationary dark-grey cloud that looked "pixelated or distorted". Out of it came a solid black triangle with a constant diffuse red light at its front point. It widened as it emerged into an equilateral shape with a red light in each corner.

He thought it might be as large as the car park he stood in and three to five storeys thick. At first it moved south at about helicopter speed at an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 feet. Then it "almost instantaneously accelerated to possibly Mach 1 or 2". Waves seemed to radiate from it like the mirage off a hot road, and it made no sound. Nearly overhead it banked 90 degrees on its left side while veering right, the opposite of how a conventional aircraft banks, then levelled out and was lost to the south. When he looked back the cloud had gone.

About sixty seconds later he rang his wife. She said his voice "sounded robotic, as if there was electronic interference".

What is on the record

An FBI FD-302, FBI-UAP-D030, records his interview in October 2025. An FBI digital rendering, FBI-UAP-D031, shows the red-lit triangle above a lamp-lit car park at night. It depicts his description, leaves out the cloud and is not a photograph. Both came in the Department of War's PURSUE release of 7 August 2026. His name, the day, the site and his phone carrier are withheld, and the third page is redacted in full.

The co-worker was there, but the record never says he saw the object. The release index places the sighting in Colorado Springs; the interview names the city only as the airspace he likes to watch. The same city and month produced a second FBI file, the translucent triangle, but the records do not link them. Neither the FBI nor AARO offers an explanation, and none was found outside the release.

Why it sits where it does

The page grades L1, one channel: one witness interviewed two years after the event. He is redacted, so the record carries no identified witness and the page cannot reach the official-record tier. A tier measures sourcing, never truth. What came out of the cloud is not resolved here.
