At twenty to nine on the evening of 19 October 1973, Gabriel de Maugues and his girlfriend saw a glowing orange sphere near the summit of Le Malmont, the hill above Draguignan in southern France. Four men with an interest in the subject drove up to find it. What they describe finding is not a light in the distance. They report a white glow, a sensation of heat and a modulated whistling, and then tall figures in red suits with lights at the abdomen coming down the rocky path towards them. Alain Leca says he walked at three of them and shouted a question: are you good or evil.
What is on the record
