Mitchell's ESP test
On Apollo 14 in early 1971 Edgar Mitchell ran a private telepathy experiment from the spacecraft, trying to send card symbols to people on Earth. He published the results himself. This is not a sighting. It is the record of what an astronaut did and claimed for it, not a verdict on whether anything crossed the distance.
◆ THE SHORT VERSION
- Mitchell's ESP test is a reported UAP case in cislunar space, 1971.
- Aboard Apollo 14 Edgar Mitchell concentrated on sequences of card symbols and tried to transmit them to colleagues on Earth, in what the tellings call the first psychic experiment in space.
- The results, the account says, were better than chance; NASA had not authorised the test and Mitchell published it himself in the Journal of Parapsychology in 1971.
- The tellings add that on the way home from the Moon Mitchell had a religious-like conversion experience.
- Sceptics who went through the scoring disagree with him about what better than chance means; the archive treats the page as the start of Mitchell's turn towards arguing for visitation, not as a sighting.
- For this case Fractured Realities holds 1 distinct source and 1 claimant on its resolved list.
- The archive grades it L0 · SINGLE ACCOUNT — the archive holds one account of it, from a single source.
Counts are resolved totals of what sources say, computed 2026-10-03; the reported details above are claims in the record, not findings. A record of reports, not a verdict on what happened.
