On the night of 18 July 1980, nurses on duty at High Hurlins Hospital reported a ball of light and then a saucer-shaped craft. A figure about six feet tall followed, dressed in black and wearing a helmet, moving along the outside of the building and looking in through the windows. On 9 October the staff reported a second episode: a light that changed colour and a craft holding position above the grounds. A very ill child in their care became frantic while it was there, the account says, and settled only once the light had gone.
What is on the record
A single Preston Dennett video carries the whole file. Four claimants resolve by name: Georgina, Diane Edworthy, Helen Monger and Kathy. There are no documents in this file, no photographs held by the archive and no official record, despite the sheet tagging photographic evidence as an element of the case. If an image exists, the archive does not hold it.
Two limits belong on the page. The first is independence. All four claimants worked at the same hospital, so this is four accounts from inside one workplace rather than four unconnected observers, and the archive's claimant count should be read with that in mind. The second is the setting. The patients here were children who could not readily give their own account of either night, which means staff testimony is the whole of the record and there is no second class of witness to set beside it.
The sheet is also inconsistent about place. It names the hospital as being at Passfield in Hampshire while its coordinates fall in the English Midlands. Take the place from the name rather than the pin.
Why it sits where it does
