The Maureen Puddy Encounters

Between July 1972 and February 1973 an Australian woman reported three encounters on Moorooduc Road near Frankston in Victoria, ending in an episode witnessed by two investigators who saw nothing themselves while she described a figure and a craft interior. This is the record of what she reported and what the investigators recorded, not a verdict on what happened on that road.

◆ THE SHORT VERSION

  • The Maureen Puddy Encounters is a reported UAP case on Mooriduc Road near Frankston, 5 July 1972; 25 July 1972; ~six months later.
  • In the third episode Maureen Puddy described, as it was happening, a small silvery figure and the interior of a craft with a central object she likened to a mushroom or a gyroscope.
  • Two investigators, Judith Magee and Paul Norman, were sitting with her while she did so, and reported seeing none of it.
  • In the first encounter, on Moorooduc Road, she described a large blue-glowing saucer following her car; three weeks later her car stalled and she reported a telepathic contact.
  • The three episodes ran across eight months, from July 1972 to February 1973, rather than the three weeks the archive's telling implies.
  • For this case Fractured Realities holds 1 distinct source and 1 claimant on its resolved list.
  • The archive grades it L0 · SINGLE ACCOUNT — the archive holds one account of it, from a single source.

Counts are resolved totals of what sources say, computed 2026-10-03; the reported details above are claims in the record, not findings. A record of reports, not a verdict on what happened.

Maureen Puddy was driving on Moorooduc Road near Frankston, in Victoria, when the first of three reported encounters took place on 5 July 1972. The archive's transcription spells the road Mooriduc; Moorooduc is the documented name. She described a large saucer glowing blue that followed her car. On 25 July her car stalled and she reported a telepathic contact that delivered messages to her. The third episode, which the archive's telling folds into 1972 and the investigators' own account places in February 1973, is the one that gives this case its particular character.

What is on the record

One claimant is resolved: Puddy herself. Judith Magee and Paul Norman were the investigators on the case, and investigators are not counted as witnesses. In the third encounter Puddy described, as it was happening, a silvery small figure and the interior of a craft, including a central object she likened to a mushroom or a gyroscope. Magee and Norman were sitting with her while she did so. They did not report seeing any of it.

That is the crux of the file, and it should be stated straight rather than resolved in either direction. Two investigators present at the moment of an experience, recording a detailed account given in real time and reporting that they perceived nothing themselves, is a genuinely unusual evidential situation. It rules out some explanations and it strongly suggests others. The archive does not adjudicate between them.

The case is also, by its own description, a sequence rather than a single event, spread across eight months rather than the three weeks the archive's telling implies. Three episodes involving one primary witness are grouped here under one file because that is how the record treats them.

Why it sits where it does

This case grades L0, the archive's tier for a single account. It once graded L3 because Magee and Norman were counted as claimants. They were investigators who saw nothing, and their contribution is testimony about a witness rather than about a craft. No documents support the file. What Puddy experienced is not resolved here.
