The Meng Zhaoguo Encounter

In the summer of 1994, Meng Zhaoguo, a forestry worker near Wuchang in Heilongjiang province, north-east China, reported seeing a metallic object on the southern slope of a hill known locally as Phoenix Mountain. In his account he approached what looked like a downed craft, was struck in the forehead by an invisible beam of light and collapsed. Nights later, he said, a towering being took him aboard the craft, examined him and showed him images that included the Shoemaker-Levy 9 comet strike on Jupiter, telling him a hybrid child would be born of the contact and shown to him in sixty years.

What is on the record

Several people are named in the record alongside Meng: Li Honghai, Yin Weixi and Zhou Ying are counted as separate claimants, which is why the case is indexed at four rather than a lone account. The record comes down through a single source, the YouTube channel Stories Lost, in one video; no other channel or document corroborates it. The onboard elements Meng described are his own testimony and cannot be independently checked; what the co-witnesses support is the presence of an object on the mountain, not the later events.

The number of witnesses to the object is what places it up the ladder, not the more elaborate claims that rest on Meng alone. What the record holds is that a working man reported an object on a fixed hillside and that three co-workers are named as having reported seeing it too, all through one telling. What was on Phoenix Mountain is not resolved here.
