The Missouri Highway 96 Reports

The stronger of the two accounts in this file is a daylight observation at distance. A couple watched a green cone-shaped object standing in a field and, beside it, figures moving around a motionless black cow. Two small silver beings are described examining the animal, which was then levitated up a ramp into a hillside. A neighbour is reported to have missed a black cow afterwards. The binoculars matter to the telling: this is offered as something watched at length rather than glimpsed.

What is on the record

Two tellings across two independent channels, five named claimants, no documents. The grade is testimony.

The second telling is a different event with different people. A family returning from the Ozarks describe missing time on the road, the mother coming to herself driving on gravel, and the children and dog being sick. Two weeks later she reports seeing a craft land in a park, with beings who communicated that they were checking on the family. The archive files these together because its resolution layer merged them under one canonical, and they are better read as two related reports than one continuous episode.

One element in the first account sits oddly with the rest and is worth naming: a camouflaged lizard-like creature is described beside the craft. Reptilian descriptions are rare in our corpus, at about two and a half per cent of catalogued beings, and this is one of them.

Why it sits where it does

L3, carried by independent tellings rather than paperwork. The dating is recorded as 1980 to 1983 because the sources discuss the episodes together. What was in the field, and whether the missing cow belongs to the same story, is not resolved here.
