On a rainy night in 2026 two men on a reconnaissance drive in the mountains of the western United States watched red lights move along a ridge, gather overhead and come down close to the ground. Afterwards one man's mechanical watch was running 25 minutes fast. This is the record of what the two told the FBI in separate interviews, not a verdict on what was in the hills.
◆ THE SHORT VERSION
◆Red Lights on the Ridgeline is a reported UAP case in Western United States (site withheld), 2026 (date withheld).
◆After a night of watching red lights in the mountains, one man found his mechanical watch running 25 minutes fast against the phones, the vehicle clock and his companion's watch.
◆He reported a light that seemed to hang about six feet off the ground and another that descended into a dry wash about 100 metres behind them.
◆His companion, interviewed separately by the FBI, described six to ten red lights appearing overhead to "sync up" with one that had left the mountain crest.
◆The two accounts differ on times, counts and distances, and two of the FBI's four renderings are night-vision views that show no red at all.
◆For this case Fractured Realities holds 6 distinct sources and 6 corroborating primary documents.
◆The archive grades it L1 · SINGLE CHANNEL — it is retold more than once, but everything traces back through one channel.
Counts are resolved totals of what sources say, computed 2026-10-03; the reported details above are claims in the record, not findings. A record of reports, not a verdict on what happened.
NUMBERS COMPUTED 2026-10-03 · RESOLVED COUNTS, NOT A VERDICT
The watch ties the two accounts together. After a night of watching lights one man adjusted the filter on his night-vision goggles and read his watch at about 1:00 AM. His phone said 12:40. Checked side by side, the watch was "25 minutes ahead" of the phones, the vehicle clock and his companion's digital watch. In five years the watch had never been off by more than 60 to 90 seconds, and it had been right at about 10 PM. Afterwards it kept good time but stayed 25 minutes fast.
The lights began in the rain. Two dull red "dash" shapes moved along the ridgeline to the west. Through the night-vision optics he has used for more than 25 years they looked orb-like. Between 10 and 11 PM a light approached from the east and stopped about 400 metres away. A second joined it and seemed to hang about six feet off the ground. Another descended into a dry wash about 100 metres behind them and he watched its glow move along it. There was no sound or exhaust, and thermal optics could not find them. He felt curiosity, not fear.
What is on the record
Two FBI FD-302s, FBI-UAP-D037 and FBI-UAP-D040, came in the Department of War's PURSUE release of 7 August 2026. D037 interviews the watch owner. D040, by telephone, interviews the other man, who describes a red light leaving the crest and six to ten more appearing overhead to "sync up" with it. He calls the watch's owner "squared away". The date, place and operation are withheld.
The two accounts differ on times, counts and distances. The owner's recalled 1:00 against 12:40 makes twenty minutes, not 25; the record marks the 1:00 as an estimate from memory. D037 notes the low lights would have sat against the mountains below the horizon. That rules out stars and satellites for those lights without explaining them.
Each interview comes with two FBI digital renderings (D038 and D039 with D037; D041 and D042 with D040). They depict what the men described and are not photographs. D039 and D042 are night-vision views of a white haloed orb and a white streak, with no red in them.
Why it sits where it does
The page grades L1, one channel. Both men are redacted, so the records carry no identified witness and the page cannot reach the official-record tier. A tier measures sourcing, never truth. What came down into the wash is not resolved here.
