The Roses Radar Base Encounter

In 1971, guards at the Ava IV radar base near the Bay of Roses in Spain said they confronted a tall figure and opened fire, and later found a section of inner fence scorched and disintegrated. Days afterwards a crowd on base reported a hovering light. This is the record of what was reported, not a verdict on what stood at the fence.

◆ THE SHORT VERSION

  • The Roses Radar Base Encounter is a reported UAP case in Ava IV radar base, Spain, 1970–1971.
  • The record describes a human-like 'Nordic' being, a tall figure, physical traces on the ground and a mass sighting.
  • For this case Fractured Realities holds 1 distinct source and 5 distinct claimants on its resolved list.
  • The archive grades it L3 · MULTI-SOURCE — multiple independent sources attest to it.

Counts are resolved totals of what sources say, computed 2026-10-03; the reported details above are claims in the record, not findings. A record of reports, not a verdict on what happened.

In 1971, at the Ava IV radar base near the Bay of Roses on the Spanish coast, guard dogs grew agitated before guards reported a golden-yellow disc above the antennas that shot out to sea. Following a green beam of light, they said they came upon a pale blond figure, roughly seven feet tall, in a metallic suit, and opened fire. By their account the figure retreated, and a section of the inner fence was afterwards found disintegrated with scorched edges while the outer fence stood intact.

What is on the record

The archive resolves five named claimants on a single reporting channel, and it holds one video. The accounts build a sequence. Two nights after the first encounter, personnel on base described a light hovering for several minutes, and on 29 March two Phantom jets were said to approach the object before all three accelerated away. The source describes around sixty base personnel present for that mass sighting; the archive resolves five claimants. A later telling has two American servicemen and a Spanish Air Force officer questioning witnesses separately, telling them to forget what they saw, and photographing each man against a white wall with a violet flash, the case then sealed as a 'reserved matter'.

There is a pointed gap for a case set at a radar station. Radar operators are among the witnesses, and describe a reddish-gold ovoid rising and turning at a right angle over the bay, but the account states it never appeared on radar and that no radar record was officially acknowledged. So the setting offers instruments without an instrument trace in the file. No documents accompany the entry.

Why it sits where it does

Roses grades L3, the independent-witness tier, carried by several claimants describing one connected episode on a single channel. It holds no government paperwork and no authenticated sensor data, which keeps it from climbing higher. What the guards confronted at the fence is not resolved here.
