In 2000 police officers in several southern Illinois towns reported the same thing in the same hours: a huge silent triangular craft moving low and slowly, then covering miles in seconds. It passed close to Scott Air Force Base. This is the record of what the officers reported, not a verdict on what crossed Illinois that night.
The reports came in from a string of small places in southern Illinois: Milstadt, Lebanon, Shiloh, Dupo. Serving police officers in different departments and separate jurisdictions described the same object over the same period. It was a black triangle or arrowhead. It made no sound and one description puts it at the size of a football pitch. It carried three lights at the rear and a strobing light at the centre. It moved slowly and low and then it did not: officers describe it relocating six or seven miles in two or three seconds. Its track took it within about a mile of Scott Air Force Base.
What is on the record
The archive resolves eight claimants across three videos and two channels, though the roster is not quite eight people: Stevens appears on it twice, once with his first name, and one entry is a collective for unnamed officers. Officer Ed Barton, Officer Craig Stevens and Officer Milstead are named; officers at Dupo and Shiloh appear by town alone, alongside a truck driver from Highland. They are not a single group watching together. They are separate observers calling in as the object moved across their patch.
There is one item that goes beyond testimony. Officer Stevens is reported to have taken a Polaroid. The archive does not hold that photograph, so it counts as a claim about evidence rather than evidence. One officer also reports a low-frequency buzzing coming from a patrol car during the sighting.
The military element is a negative one. The craft is said to have passed close to Scott AFB and the base is reported to have denied any radar detection. That denial is part of the record but it is not paperwork the archive holds. There are no documents in this file at all and no video of the object.
Why it sits where it does
The case grades L3, multiple independent claimants describing one connected event, carried on testimony. Without government records or authenticated sensor data it does not reach L4.
