One telling has the first creature captured on a hillside at half past ten on the morning of 20 January 1996, and a second seen by three girls that afternoon: a small biped with oily brown skin and large red eyes. In the days around it, residents of Varginha, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, reported more of them, along with a conspicuous mobilisation of firemen and soldiers moving through the town.
What was reported
The tellings describe a crashed craft as the start of it. An ultralight pilot, Carlos de Sousa, says he saw a cigar-shaped craft go down, handled foil-like debris that sprang back to its shape when crumpled, and was threatened at gunpoint by soldiers. A farming couple, Eurico de Freitas and Oralina Augusta, described a bus-sized object trembling low over their land. In town the fire brigade is said to have captured a dazed creature. Hospital accounts follow: a surgeon, Ítalo Venturelli, says a colleague showed him a short video of a small being on a gurney, and a physician is said to have treated a compound leg fracture that healed within a day. A soldier who handled a being, Marco Cherese, is said to have died afterwards of an anomalous infection. Several accounts end with beings passed to United States custody. Every one of those claims is testimony.
The archive resolves 41 claimants across 31 videos on five channels, the deepest South American file it holds. Many are groups rather than single people, among them the firemen, hospital staff, Army personnel and townspeople, each counted once. No primary document sits in the file; the single document attached is journalism. Nothing on paper here confirms the military operation the accounts describe.
Where it stands
Varginha grades L3, multiple independent claimants describing one connected event, and it holds that tier with unusual depth: named doctors, firemen, soldiers and townspeople, gathered over years by investigators including Vitório Pacaccini. It does not climb, because nothing documentary carries it. The tellings call it the Roswell of Brazil, and one says the fate of the craft remains classified by Brazil's Ministry of Defence. That is the source's claim. What was, or was not, carried out of Varginha in January 1996 is not resolved here.
