WHAT IT IS

A seven-foot spectral figure floating above a line of tapering bodies in the Great Gallery. Ancient Aliens ranked the Utah figures among its top ten 'alien petroglyphs'.

THE ALIEN READING

Featured in Ancient Aliens (S19E20) and fringe sites as visitors or 'spacemen'. The Holy Ghost hovers over the others like a being above a crowd.

WHAT THE RECORD SAYS

A 2014 Utah State study combining geology with luminescence dating placed the panel between AD 1 and 1100. The figures belong to a well-documented regional style, read as spirit figures; the Holy Ghost was sprayed by blowing pigment from the mouth.

WHERE IT STANDS

Explained. Historians and archaeologists account for what it shows. The alien reading is a modern one.
