The Cherry Creek Farm Sighting

On the evening of 19 August 1965, a sixteen-year-old farm boy said a large silver object descended near his family's dairy farm at Cherry Creek, New York, while the barn radio went to static and the animals panicked. State troopers reported lights over the same farm the next night. This is the record of what was reported, not a verdict on what came down near the barn.

A sixteen-year-old boy was milking cows in the barn at his family's farm at Cherry Creek, at about 8.20 in the evening, when a bull began screeching and the radio filled with static. He said he saw a large silver football- or egg-shaped object with tripod legs, rivets and vertical seams. It hovered or landed roughly 500 feet away near a tree, emitted a beeping sound and a red vapour, then rose rapidly and turned the clouds green before reappearing. The animals panicked. He said the Air Force later confiscated his photographs and threatened him, and that Project Blue Book classified the incident a "true unknown". Those claims are his; the archive holds no such paperwork.

What is on the record

The archive resolves four claimants from two videos on a single reporting channel: the boy, his father, the two state troopers entered as a pair, and Trooper E. J. Haas, one of that pair, entered again by name. That last entry counts one trooper twice, so three distinct sources sit behind the case. An unrelated item used to be filed here too, a staged West Virginia hoax film from 1966. The archive matched the two on the word "Creek" and has now separated them.

The one document attached is a CIA file from a FOIA collection. It is indexed as reporting rather than as a government primary record, so it does not corroborate the event. The night after the boy's sighting, two New York State troopers on an overlooking hill reported a line of eight lights holding a fixed north-south course, which came low and, they said, "purred like a bag full of kittens".

Why it sits where it does

The case grades L3, resting on more than one account of a connected sequence, the farm and then the troopers' lights. It stays there because a single channel carries it and no clean primary document supports it. What was over the farm is not resolved here.
