Through the mid-1970s Colorado ranchers reported livestock found dead with parts cut away and no blood on the ground. Law enforcement, a senator and the state bureau of investigation all became involved and did not agree. This is the record of what was reported and disputed, not a verdict on what killed the animals.
Across Colorado in the middle of the 1970s, ranchers began finding cattle dead in their own fields with tissue removed. The pattern described in the accounts is consistent: an ear, an eye, the rectum and the sex organs cut away, the carcass drained, no blood on the ground and no tracks around it. A retired sheriff in the north of the state, Tex Graves, said the reports ran to as many as three a day in 1975 and that bodies were sometimes still warm when found. Some ranchers began carrying guns at night.
What is on the record
The archive resolves nine claimants here across four videos, all from a single reporting channel. Among them are Graves, the rancher Bill Jackson, the investigator Linda Moulton Howe and a witness named as Dr William Fitzgerald. One telling relays a 1975 letter from Senator Floyd Haskell to the FBI setting out the injuries reported by ranchers and rural residents. That letter is described in the source and is not in the archive as a document. The file holds no government paperwork at all.
Ordinary explanations are live in the record rather than absent from it. One telling states that the state bureau of investigation, given as the CBI, attributed ninety-nine per cent of the cases to predators, and that ranchers and a vet rejected the finding. Scavengers take soft tissue first and a carcass left in a field changes quickly. That is the ground on which the official reading stands. The accounts push back on the clean-edged cuts and on the missing blood, and several tie the deaths to lights seen in the sky at night. Nothing in the file settles which reading holds, and the archive does not hold the veterinary or forensic material either side would need.
Also worth naming plainly: the claim that law enforcement privately blamed beings from elsewhere is reported as something officers are said to have believed, not as a finding.
Why it sits where it does
The case grades L3, the archive's independent-claimant tier, because a number of separate ranchers and officials described the same pattern. Its weakness is that all of it reaches the archive through one channel, and no primary document backs it. What was cutting Colorado cattle is not resolved here.
