The Lynda Jones Encounter

In 1979 a Manchester woman and her two children saw a pinky-orange object come down beside the River Mersey and hover silently just above the ground. She reported lost time, burns to her face and, under hypnosis, being taken aboard. This is the record of what the family described, not a verdict on what was in the field that evening.

Under hypnosis eighteen months later, Lynda Jones recalled being floated aboard and laid on a table. Ice was placed on her legs and lights were shone in her eyes by six identical tall beings. The encounter that led there is placed on the banks of the River Mersey at Didsbury in 1979. She was picking wildflowers with her son and daughter when an oval pinky-orange object came straight down and hung silently about two feet above the ground. She felt drawn towards it until the light burned her face. Then they ran.

What is on the record

Six videos across two channels carry the account. The archive resolves nine claimants, but that figure counts the same three people several times under Lynda, Linda and their children. One telling gives her a different first name. Its details match this story closely and the archive treats it as the same event. There are no documents and the grade is testimony.

The tellings add detail and some disagreement. The object is a half-moon in one, an oval in others and a boat-shaped girder structure about sixty feet wide with a bright magnesium light on top in another. Her young son is said to have called it the crashed boat. The lost time is half an hour in one telling and about an hour in three others. One account placed the sighting on a November evening. Others say a summer evening in August.

Two further claims stand out. She is said to have been left with burned scaly skin under her eyes. One telling adds that a gynaecologist later told her all her eggs had disappeared. Under hypnosis her daughter is also said to have recalled the table and the beings. Lynda said she believed it was something she should not have been able to remember. The archive records regression as the route by which that material arrived. That is a fact about the account rather than a verdict on it.

A stranger element sits in one telling: as she ran, she reported grass growing rapidly beneath her feet. Others say only that the grass moved around them. The archive keeps it because the record contains it.

Why it sits where it does

L3, resting on independent tellings rather than documents. The witnesses are a mother and her children rather than unconnected observers. What came down by the Mersey is not resolved here.
