The Owensville Triangle Footage

On a rainy night in November 1994 an Owensville resident filmed several minutes of silent lights moving low over a field, stopping and reversing. A sheriff appeared to watch them too, and the department later denied any reports. This is the record of what was filmed and said afterwards, not a verdict on what was over the field.

A sheriff appeared to stand off against one of the lights before it moved away, and afterwards the department denied that any reports had been made. Barb Bergfeld was filming at the time. She filmed from her property in Owensville, in Clermont County, Ohio, on the night of 10 November 1994, in rain, and kept going for several minutes. By the archive's account of it the footage shows lights in a triangular arrangement moving low over a field. They hold still, reverse direction and separate. There was no sound. One telling records explosive noises beforehand. Another describes four headlights in a triangle performing a rolling motion.

What is on the record

Four tellings on a single channel and no documents. The archive lists two claimants, Barb Bergfeld and Larry Moore. The grade is testimony, and the footage is not held in the archive. One telling reports an analysis of the tape suggesting a possible solid triangular structure joining the headlight-like lights. The archive holds neither that analysis nor who made it. Another says others in the area reported similar lights before and after the night.

The interesting part of this file is not the lights but the response to them. A sheriff is described as observing and following the objects. Afterwards the department dismissed the footage and denied any reports. That detail is worth holding carefully in both directions. It is either a small act of official evasion or an ordinary gap between what one officer did on a wet night and what a records clerk could later find.

Larry Moore is recorded as independently seeing a fast low glowing light. His is the only strand here that does not depend on the Bergfeld footage.

Why it sits where it does

Owensville grades L3 on multiple tellings and more than one named witness. All four tellings come through the same channel, which is thinner corroboration than the tier alone suggests. This file previously carried a UK Ministry of Defence document as corroboration. A full-text check found it never mentions Owensville or Ohio, so it has been removed. What Barb Bergfeld filmed is not resolved here.
