The Presque Isle Theodolite Light
On the night of 10–11 October 1952 Air Force weather observers at Presque Isle and Limestone bases in Maine tracked "a circular orange object with four green lights nearby" by theodolite for about four hours, and the two sets of readings seemed to place it far above the atmosphere. The CIA's scientific intelligence office and Project Blue Book both identified it as the planet Jupiter. This is the record of what was tracked and how it was explained, not a verdict on what was in the sky.
