WHAT IT IS
A spiral of about 150 circles running some 900 ft, from under 6 ft to over 60 ft wide, said to have appeared in daylight within an hour beside Stonehenge.
THE ALIEN READING
A pilot and a doctor reportedly flew over in the late afternoon and saw nothing, then saw the full formation about 45 minutes later; other tellings narrow it to 15. Colin Andrews: 'If these Julia Sets can be proven to be made by humans, then we can all pack our bags and go home.'
WHAT THE RECORD SAYS
Circlemaker Rod Dickinson described it being made the night before by three people in under three hours, unseen from the road because the field drops into a bowl. The daylight story exists in contradictory versions, and the farm's family said workers at the gate saw nothing unusual. No maker has signed a public claim.
WHERE IT STANDS
Disputed. No maker has claimed it. Sceptics say people made it; proponents point to what they say people could not do.
