WHAT IT IS

A seated clay figure with a five-sided masked face and a stare that reads as a grey's. Found in 1956 in Pristina, it is now a symbol of the city.

THE ALIEN READING

Reposted on r/AncientAliens for years as a '6,000-year-old figurine that looks like an alien'. The pentagonal mask, slanted eyes and absent mouth do the work.

WHAT THE RECORD SAYS

Vinča figurines share this masked face across hundreds of examples; this one is a seated female deity, read as part of a mother-goddess cult. The mask is a regional convention.

WHERE IT STANDS

Explained. Historians and archaeologists account for what it shows. The alien reading is a modern one.
